About the role
Volunteer Firefighters serve the community by responding to fires, rescues, medical emergencies, and other incidents. Members participate in regular training and maintain firefighting equipment.
Pay
- $15 per emergency call (paid annually)
- $8,000 pension credit for each year of service
- Vested after 10 years; up to $160,000 pension after 20 years of service
Requirements
- Respond to at least 45% of fire calls
- Attend 65% of meetings and training sessions
- At least 18 years old
- High school diploma or GED
- Valid driver’s license
- Reside within a 10-minute drive of the New Ulm Fire Station
Qualifications
- Required firefighter training and certifications must be completed after hire
