Description
Valentines By Kids is a non-profit organization focused on encouraging schools, clubs, and Girl Scouts to make Valentine's Day cards which are then distributed to hospitals, nursing homes, hospices, and to clients of Food & Friends (who deliver meals to the homebound). The program operates primarily in the DC/MD/VA area but can be replicated elsewhere.
We are seeking a Volunteer Executive Director to take over and manage the program after our Founder and "main guy" moves to go to college. The ideal candidate could be an individual or an organization like a church, university, or social group interested in social entrepreneurship.
- Established website and good press coverage
- Good database system and reliable vendors
- Funding from two foundations each year
- Program starts gearing up in August to update the email list for school principals/teachers
- Solicitations sent to schools and other organizations to make cards
- Boxes are packed on February 5th and sent via FedEx to hospitals
- Contacting facilities to place orders for Valentines
- Volunteers or organization must be organized and willing to learn about WordPress, Sendgrid, and our database management program
- Training provided for the first year
