About the role

The Volunteer Docent is a brand representative responsible for creating a welcoming environment and providing excellent customer service as the first point of contact for those arriving for guided tours at the USGA Experience and World Golf Hall of Fame. This is an unpaid, part-time volunteer opportunity located at the USGA Experience and World Golf Hall of Fame in Pinehurst, North Carolina.

Schedule

Shifts vary and may include Tuesdays and Thursdays from 1:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m., as well as evenings and weekends for events. The average weekly commitment is 3 – 6 hours.

Responsibilities

  • Warmly greet and accommodate visitors, ensuring they feel welcomed and valued.
  • Accurately and thoughtfully respond to visitor questions in a professional, knowledgeable, and informative manner.
  • Provide guided tours of the permanent and rotating exhibits at the USGA Experience and World Golf Hall of Fame.
  • Support on-site events, including large-scale meetings, symposiums, conferences, and other events by registering, credentialing, and directing visitors to event locations.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated ability to provide excellent customer service.
  • Excellent communication (both written and oral), interpersonal skills, and good organizational skills.
  • Articulate, punctual, proactive, responsive, and efficient.
  • Professional and conscientious disposition with a focus on customer care.
  • Ability to work as both a team player and independently without direct oversight.
  • Enjoy working with people and present in a pleasant and professional manner.
  • Flexibility to adjust schedules with other Volunteer Docents as needed.
