What You'll Do Perform line-by-line edits for grammar, punctuation, and syntaxEnsure consistent style, tone, and terminology throughout the manuscriptCheck facts, names, and details for internal consistency (not full fact-checking, but consistency)Flag any AI-generated phrasing that sounds unnatural or repetitiveApply a style guide (e.g., Chicago Manual of Style) consistently across chaptersReturn a clean, polished manuscript ready for design/layout Who You Are Excellent command of grammar, punctuation, and English usageMeticulous, detail-oriented, and comfortable with repetitive close-reading workFamiliar with at least one major style guidePrior copyediting experience preferredComfortable working with AI-assisted drafts and cleaning up their quirks What You'll Gain Copyediting credit on published booksPractical experience with long-form manuscript editingPortfolio-building workFlexible, remote volunteering
