About the role
The hospice volunteer coordinator under the direction of the hospice agency manager or designee, recruits volunteers and manages the volunteer program. Key responsibilities include accurately completing clinical documentation, maintaining volunteer files, supervising volunteers, ensuring compliance with agency policies, and recruiting new volunteers.
Responsibilities
- Supervises and develops the Volunteer Program for assigned areas for hospice agencies.
- Accurately completes all required clinical documentation consistently per RHS standards.
- Maintains volunteer files and ensures they meet requirements for documentation.
- Assures that each volunteer is appropriately supervised and evaluated and documents such.
- Ensures volunteers' compliance with agency policies and procedures.
- Ensures that 5% of the clinical staff hours are to be provided by the volunteer services department in order to maintain Medicare Benefit Certification.
- Recruits, interviews, and selects volunteers.
- Serves as a resource for volunteers, offering training and support.
- Participates in staff training programs and committees as assigned.
- Evaluates patient/family/caregiver volunteer needs and develops an individualized plan of care for defined volunteer services.
- Assigns duties to administrative and patient care volunteers.
- Assists in the development and updating of the plan of care.
- Assesses patient/family response to and satisfaction with care.
Requirements
- CPR/BLS Certification - American Heart Association/American Red Cross/American Safety and Health Institute (AHA/ARC) within 60 Days (Required)
- Valid Drivers License Required (To drive personal vehicle for RHS business 25% or more of the time)
Qualifications
- Education: High school or equivalent (Required)
- Bachelor's Degree (Preferred)
- Supervisory experience (Preferred)
- Ability to delegate and prioritize tasks
- Recognizes and responds to emergency situations
- Positive attitude towards teamwork and volunteerism

Hiring range $18.90 - $24.60/Hourly
