About the role

JOURNEYS | The Road Home in Palatine, IL is seeking a full-time Volunteer Coordinator to inspire and mobilize volunteers to change lives.

Responsibilities

• Recruit and onboard passionate community members
• Manage volunteer training sessions
• Coordinate schedules and systems
• Maintain detailed records for smooth operations
• Connect with local businesses for expanded outreach
• Ensure volunteers' experiences are meaningful and impactful
• Lead the volunteer program to be the heartbeat of JOURNEYS

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in nonprofit management, social services, communications, or a related field
• 1+ years of experience in volunteer coordination, community engagement, or nonprofit programs
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently
• Willingness to learn Bloomerang Volunteer, Sign-Up Genius
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills
• Ability to facilitate training or group presentations
• Strong organizational and administrative skills
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and volunteer or database management systems
• Commitment to the mission of serving individuals and families experiencing homelessness
• Ability to work independently, solve problems, and actively seek assistance when needed
• Strong attention to detail
• Familiarity with the communities within JOURNEYS service area
• Ability to maintain professional boundaries and build community relationships
