This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced finance professional to join the Board of Directors and play a key role in strengthening financial governance, establishing a formal Audit and Finance Committee, and supporting the long-term sustainability of an organization working at the forefront of the low-carbon building sector.
As Treasurer, you will provide strategic oversight of the organization's financial health and serve as a trusted advisor to the Executive Director, CFO, and Board of Directors. You will also lead the establishment of the Board's Audit and Finance Committee, strengthening governance, financial oversight, and accountability as ReCover continues to grow.

- Establish and chair the Audit and Finance Committee, including development of its charter, annual workplan, and governance practices.
- Lead committee oversight of quarterly financial reporting, financial controls, risk management, and compliance with applicable tax and regulatory requirements.
- Oversee the annual audit process and serve as the primary Board liaison with external auditors.
- Report regularly to the Board and support the continued evolution of strong financial governance practices.
Qualifications
- CPA designation preferred.
- Experience serving on boards, audit committees, finance committees, or governance committees.
- Strong understanding of financial statements, audits, financial controls, and risk management.
- Experience with not-for-profit organizations and charitable sector governance is an asset.
- Interest in sustainability, climate action, building performance, energy efficiency, or decarbonization.
- The ability to guide both strategic discussions and practical implementation of governance improvements.
We encourage applications from individuals whose backgrounds, experiences, and perspectives reflect the diversity of the communities we serve. We particularly welcome applications from Indigenous peoples, racialized persons, women, members of the LGBTQ2S+ community, people with disabilities, and others who have been historically underrepresented in leadership roles.
Schedule
- Attendance at four quarterly Board meetings annually and Annual General Meeting.
- Quarterly Audit and Finance Committee meetings.
- Periodic discussions with the Executive Director and CFO regarding financial, tax, audit, and governance matters and additional involvement during annual budgeting, audit, and committee development activities.
Expected commitment is approximately 10-15 hours per quarter, with some additional time required during the first year as the Audit and Finance Committee is established.
