About Us Dream Experiences is a nascent nonprofit organization with an exciting vision to provide joy and inspire underserved youth by providing them with access to unforgettable experiences that celebrate their unique passions. We believe that all youth deserve the opportunity to have their own dream experiences. Our Approach Dream Experiences will work closely with community partners, schools, and social service organizations to identify young people who would benefit most from our programs. We’ll work to understand the unique interests of these young people and find opportunities to connect them to relevant local events and experiences. We’ll partner with the companies and organizations that put on these events and serve as a conduit to connect them with youth organizations throughout Los Angeles for a win-win across the board. We will focus on providing access to a diverse range of experiences, including Music and Arts Concerts by their favorite artists, theatrical performances of their favorite shows, etc.Sporting Events Live sporting events from their favorite teams and players.Skill and Passion Development Hands-on workshops in a passion area of their choosing, partnered with a master of the specific craft. Our Needs As a newly formed organization, Dream Experiences is seeking passionate and dedicated individuals to join our founding Board of Directors. Initially we are particularly interested in individuals with expertise in legal counsel, finance/accounting, and the entertainment/event industry. We source donated access — tickets, passes, workshops, and mentorships — to create personalized, passion-driven experiences for young people facing hardship. About The Role We are seeking a dedicated volunteer Board Member to serve as Treasurer. This is a hands-on governance role for someone who wants to put their financial expertise to work in service of a mission they care about. As Treasurer, you will be a voting member of our Board of Directors and our lead officer on all matters of financial oversight, helping ensure Dream Experiences remains fiscally healthy, transparent, and compliant as we scale. As one of a young organization's key financial leaders, you'll have an outsized opportunity to help build the systems, controls, and strategy that will carry us into our next chapter. This is an unpaid, volunteer position. There is no salary, stipend, or other compensation associated with this role. Key Responsibilities Oversee the organization's financial health, including budgeting, cash flow, and financial planning.Review and help present financial statements and reports to the Board of Directors at regular meetings.Ensure accurate bookkeeping and maintenance of financial records.Oversee and support the preparation and timely filing of tax and regulatory documents, including IRS Form 990 and California state filings, and help maintain the organization's 501(c)(3) compliance and good standing.Support internal financial controls, policies, and best practices.Support the annual audit or financial review process, if and when applicable.Advise the Board on financial implications of organizational decisions and strategy.Participate actively as a full voting member of the Board, attending board meetings and contributing to the organization's overall governance. Qualifications Required Active CPA (Certified Public Accountant) license.Resides in the greater Los Angeles area.Experience supporting nonprofit financial management, including familiarity with nonprofit accounting, compliance, and tax filings (e.g., Form 990).Ability to commit approximately 10 hours per month to the organization.Genuine motivation and enthusiasm for our mission of bringing joy to underserved youth and children in foster care. Preferred (not Required) Prior nonprofit board or governance experience.Fundraising or development experience.
