Volunteer Athletic Coach
About the role
The Edmonds School District seeks individuals to fill coaching positions. These roles involve developing fundamental skills and understanding of sports in participants, ensuring a safe and inclusive environment, and managing various aspects of the program.
Responsibilities
- Determine and implement best strategies for the system of play.
- Maintain a safe environment for participants.
- Foster a sense of belonging and inclusivity in the program.
- Ensure student-athlete eligibility and monitor behavior.
- Oversee the issuance and inventory of equipment.
- Maintain accurate financial and administrative records.
- Aid with program-related logistics.
- Stay current with industry standards, rules, and coaching techniques.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED.
- At least 21 years of age.
- Physical ability to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, squat, bend, twist, lift up to 50 pounds, and work in various conditions including extreme heat, humidity, and direct sunlight.
- Requires hand-eye coordination to operate athletics equipment.
- Wear all required personal protective equipment specific to the task given.
Benefits
This position is not anticipated to qualify for benefits due to its unpaid volunteer nature. Health care services are provided by the Washington State Health Care Authority (HCA), and benefits are provided through SEBB (School Employees Benefits Board).
- Eligible for SEBB state health insurance coverage after working 630 hours during the school year.
- Eligible for a state retirement plan through the Department of Retirement Systems (DRS) upon hire.
