About the Role

We are looking for friendly, helpful, reliable students who love working with children! No experience is needed. As an instructor/tutor, you will work with students ranging from ages 4 (pre-kindergarten) to 13 (older middle school). We will train you thoroughly on the Gideon Math & Reading curriculum and methods. Our goal is to help each student achieve their school goals—whether catching up, keeping up, or staying ahead of grade-level work.

Gideon is an after-school math and reading center that builds confidence through academic mastery. Using our step-by-step curriculum, we strengthen and grow a child’s education by progressing at the student’s pace, ensuring competency before moving to the next topic. Gideon provides a fun, calm learning environment to help children catch up, keep up, and stay ahead.

Responsibilities

• Stay positive, encouraging, and professional with students
• Listen to students read short storybooks and answer follow-up questions
• Listen to students recite math facts while verifying answers
• Monitor students at the table to keep them on task and maintain a productive, quiet learning environment
