About the role
The Volunteer Associate role will provide critical project management support for Community Campaigns and signature initiatives, including Operation Backpack, Holiday Drive, kit-building activities, Operation Backpack Plus and beautification projects. The incumbent creates and manages meaningful opportunities for individual volunteers, including recreation support, language translation, skills-based volunteering and other program specific needs.
Responsibilities
- Lead a team in preparing and organizing the warehouse donation space to effectively host volunteer groups and support efficient operations
- Organize and operate a regular in-kind donation warehouse
- Prepare orders and coordinate scheduling and pickups with internal and external partner organizations
- Manage large groups of volunteers, ensuring events are well-structured, impactful, and engaging
- Partner with the Manager Corporate & Community Campaigns, Corporate Engagement team, and cross-functional teams to develop external-facing volunteer engagement materials
- Create clear, compelling one-pagers and pitch proposals
- Support accurate budget tracking and volunteer engagement event expense management
- Ensure all materials are polished, cohesive, and ready for external audiences
- Track and maintain accurate records of bags packed and distributed, ensuring data integrity and timely reporting
- Support Various VOA events including but not limited to:
- Operation Backpack +: Helping coordinate payments and ensure all possible students receive money; Compile responses on how students spend money
- Operation Backpack: Email partners; Full-time in the warehouse during packing season
- In-Kind donations: Coordinate donations and Program pick-ups; Maintain Inventory and storage space; Help produce an in-kind report
- Holiday Drive: Coordinating pick-ups of gifts from HQ; Help assess Program needs
- Corp Engagement: Purchasing supplies; Support during project; Maintain volunteer engagement database
- Non-Corp Volunteering: Create a database of volunteers (individuals and groups); Create volunteer project calendar (on-going engagements)
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree preferred or at least two years relevant professional experience or equivalent, working with corporate engagement, volunteerism and event management in a nonprofit setting
- Excellent project manager, incredibly detail-oriented, with strong written and verbal communication skills
- Professional, engaging, reliable and flexible on a consistent basis
- Uphold the importance of teamwork
- Strong communication skills and the ability to multitask and problem-solve as various needs arise and need to be managed simultaneously
