About the role
The position supports the head coach in all areas of team management and assists with administrative tasks.
Responsibilities
- Oversee all team activities, supervise games and training sessions
- Teach young athletes the fundamentals of the sport
- Promote values of responsibility and commitment, emphasize academics
- Encourage parent involvement as volunteers
- Create a safe and fun environment for children
- Follow association and league rules, policies, and procedures
- Put player well-being above winning
- Attend association and league meetings, classes, tryouts, and functions
- Build a positive team environment
- Organize travel arrangements, including transport, accommodation, and meals
- Facilitate and supervise training sessions and individual workouts
- Organize sports events and schedule practice sessions
- Prepare and maintain training equipment and facilities
- Aid in student recruitment
- Maintain records of students, training sessions, games, performance statistics, and equipment
- Perform other duties as assigned by the head coach
Requirements
- Passion for youth development
- Ability to remain calm in stressful situations; patience and understanding
- Effective working relationships with other employees
- Tact and courtesy in dealing with the public
- Analytical and evaluative skills
- Effective working relationships and teamwork
- Keyboarding and computer proficiency
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Previous youth coaching or instructional experience preferred
- Complete required training and obtain coach certification
- First Aid and/or CPR certification preferred
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Experience in diverse community communication and relationship building
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite
- Extensive hours and weekend availability required
