Volunteer Announcer Training Program
About the role
WCPE, The Classical Station is a single-unit independent operation and is unable to assist with relocation expenses. There is a probationary period of ninety days (90) for all hires and all promotions. Positions are posted for a two-week period but may be extended at the discretion of the Station.
A universal requirement of all staff members is maintaining the operation of a 24/7 around-the-clock non-profit broadcasting facility consistent with each individual’s knowledge and skills of the wide range of tasks required in a small business, where all assist with varying tasks and responsibilities as business needs require.
Additional positive personal attributes include:
- Devotion to the Mission of the Station
- A love of classical music
- Working knowledge of languages common to classical music (for announcer positions)
- Experience with non-profit organizations
- Any other skills, avocations, and experience which one wishes to share with the Station and its supporters
Strict adherence to safety protocols and Federal, State, county, Local, and Station rules and regulations is required. Because the Station is on the air 24/7, work at any time and/or day may be required.
Responsibilities
- Work independently in the absence of supervision
- Understand and follow oral and written instructions
- Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with listeners and donors
- Demonstrate skills such as language, spelling, and grammar
- Physical presence at the Station unless otherwise noted
