Volunteer AI Software & Web Developer

About the role

We are looking for a volunteer software and web developer with advanced AI-assisted coding and web design skills to help maintain, expand, and optimize our digital platforms.

Responsibilities

• Build new pages and features for keepaisafe.org (React 18, TypeScript, Vite, Tailwind CSS, Express)
• Help expand KAIS Academy, our education platform
• Improve and extend our safety tools, including toy safety ratings, live AI incident monitoring, and gaming safety resources
• Optimize page speed, Core Web Vitals, and on-page SEO
• Support deployments on Railway and configuration on Cloudflare
• Use Claude Code with VS Code as a core part of the daily workflow, and help refine our AI development practices

Requirements

• Strong experience with modern web development (React, TypeScript, Node.js or similar)
• Hands-on experience using AI coding tools (Claude Code, Cursor, Copilot, or similar) as a core part of your workflow
• Solid web design skills: responsive layouts, accessibility, and attention to visual detail
• Self-directed and reliable; able to own features from idea to production
• Able to commit consistent volunteer hours each week (schedule is flexible)

Qualifications

• Nice to have: Tailwind CSS, shadcn/ui, Framer Motion, PostgreSQL/Drizzle, Railway or Cloudflare experience, SEO and analytics familiarity, and an interest in AI safety or child protection
