About the role

We are seeking a talented individual to join our Voluntary Benefits team at Mercer in a hybrid role that requires working at least three days a week in the office. As a Senior Voluntary Benefits Consultant, you will play a key role in developing the overall strategy for a subset of clients, leveraging strong leadership skills and independent work ethic.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and expand a large to mid-sized book of business containing larger or nuanced accounts across various industries or specialties; may contribute to sales work for complex, high-priority accounts owned by senior colleagues.
  • Develop sales and retention strategies for client accounts using an in-depth understanding of client needs, market trends, and product and service offerings.
  • Conduct robust client analyses to create customized product and solution recommendations.
  • Address escalated issues in a timely and effective manner to ensure relationships remain positive and deliverables are met on promised timelines.
  • Actively engage and nurture relationships and professional networks within client organizations.
  • Attend and participate in industry events and conferences to build a strong professional network, maintain market proximity, and represent the company.
  • Thrive in an environment that embraces AI and technology-enabled tools.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree required.
  • Voluntary Benefits subject matter experience required.
  • Strong voluntary benefits product, process, and market knowledge (including but not limited to supplemental health, ID Theft Protection, Legal, Auto/Home, Discount, Purchasing Programs, Pet Insurance, Life with LTC).
  • 5+ years’ experience as a Consultant with a background in Client Management (Large Clients) or Sales (Large Clients).
  • Strong financial and business acumen.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, successfully managing multiple and conflicting priorities to meet or exceed deadlines.
  • Current Life/Health License or ability to obtain within 6 months of hire.
  • Strong collaboration and team-focused skills, including relationship building and fostering with Mercer Health & Benefits and Voluntary Benefits colleagues.

Qualifications

  • Demonstrated success working with C-Suite Executives.
  • Demonstrated success in expanding and retaining client relationships.
  • Ability to support Large Market Clients.

Pay

The applicable base salary range for this role is $119,000 to $237,500. The base pay offered will be determined on factors such as experience, skills, training, location, certifications, education, and any applicable minimum wage requirements. This position may also be eligible for performance-based incentives.

Schedule

Hybrid role requiring at least three days a week in the office. Office-based teams will identify at least one “anchor day” per week on which their full team will be together in person.
