Voice Systems Engineer II

About the role

Aetos Systems, Inc. is seeking a Voice Systems Engineer II to research, design, develop, integrate, test, document, and oversee the installation of electrical communication systems at Kennedy Space Center. This includes analog and digital Voice Communications systems. This is a represented staff position with the IBEW Union.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science plus 5 years of experience, or Master’s Degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology from an ABET-accredited program plus 3 years of engineering experience.
• U.S. citizenship with the ability to pass a NASA background investigation.
• Ability to pass initial and random drug testing.
• Valid Florida Driver’s License.

Skills & Technical Experience

• Strong engineering, administration, and troubleshooting experience with Linux operating systems (RHEL, Ubuntu, and other enterprise distributions) and Microsoft Windows 10/11.
• System administration, patch management, user administration, and system hardening.
• Proficiency in Java and Python for application support, automation, and systems integration.
• Development and maintenance of Windows batch scripts and Linux shell scripts.
• Hands-on experience using Ansible for configuration management and deployment automation.
• Support of enterprise voice communications, including VoIP, SIP, T1, RF communications, voice gateways, and telephony infrastructure.
• Strong understanding of networking fundamentals: TCP/IP, DNS, VLANs, routing, switching, firewalls, and network troubleshooting.
• Ability to troubleshoot complex cross-platform issues spanning operating systems, applications, networking, and voice systems.
• Experience with system monitoring, performance analysis, and cybersecurity best practices.
• Experience authoring and maintaining technical documentation (system documentation, implementation guides, troubleshooting guides, change requests, etc.).
• Strong understanding of engineering principles and technologies.
• Good communication skills and ability to work in a team environment.
• Working knowledge of computer systems and computer administration.

Physical Requirements

• Normally works in an environmentally controlled setting; occasionally works at customer sites including outdoors.
• Outdoor conditions may include cold and hot temperatures, high humidity, and windy conditions.
• Occasionally requires lifting up to 35–50 pounds, working on uneven surfaces, and standing for long periods.
