Voice Class Instructor

About The Opportunity

The FIM Flint School of Performing Arts (FSPA) is looking for a driven, dedicated, and enthusiastic Voice Class Instructor. Under the direction of the Voice Department Chair, the Voice Class Instructor teaches voice classes for children aged 4-11 and seeks a diverse pool of applicants to grow vocal opportunities offered to students. Classes will begin as soon as possible and will meet on Monday Evenings, through May.

Responsibilities

• Instruction and Mentorship
  • Guide students using a variety of teaching methods and materials that foster growth and creative exploration.
  • Provide expert music instruction, including demonstration during classes.
  • Ensure students are performance-ready and understand the process of translating practice work into a public presentation.
  • Establish a good rapport with students and families, encouraging open discussion.
• Administrative
  • Manage logistics, including but not limited to: communication with FSPA office staff, lesson scheduling, registration, and regular communication with students and families.
  • Adhere to all FIM policies and procedures set forth.
• Community Building
  • Foster an inclusive, student-centered environment that supports risk-taking, mutual respect, and creative expression.
  • Support outreach and communication efforts to help raise awareness, engage new participants, and connect the work of the Flint School of Performing Arts to the broader community.
  • Model curiosity, openness, and professionalism in all interactions with students, families, and colleagues.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in the field and related teaching experience preferred
• Experience teaching diverse styles of music preferred
• Strong interpersonal skills
• Effective communication skills
