Vocational Supervisor
About the role
Springfield Public Schools is seeking a Chapter 74 Vocational Supervisor. This position oversees vocational programs, including a new collaboration between Putnam Vocational Academy and the High School of Science & Technology.
Responsibilities
- Demonstrates effective interpersonal, oral and written communication skills.
- Identifies, implements, and supports content-based instruction based on the MA Curriculum Frameworks for Chapter 74 programs.
- Enforce and monitor Department of Education and Division of Occupational Education Regulations.
- Plan and implement future vocational curriculum and programs for compliance with DOE Vocational Frameworks.
- P Practices relevant fiscal management policies and procedures.
- Uses technology appropriately: as an organizational tool for record keeping and scheduling; as a communication tool; data collection and accountability; and educational research.
- Provides support and leadership in implementing standards-based vocational classrooms and the use of the Principles of Learning.
- Understands plant facilities and equipment management.
- Safety procedure resource for all Chapter 74 programs.
- Supports teachers and students with training in OSHA protocol, SDS protocol, the Injury and Illness prevention program, school health and safety regulations and emergency protocol.
- Coordinates, supports, and monitors live vocational projects, in the school setting.
- Ensures that all projects are safe, progressive, and productive for all student’s educational necessities.
- Advise the Vocational Director as to the appropriate uses of facilities, equipment, technology, and supplies.
- Supports Vocational Director with financial requirements associated with vocational projects, including required purchases and potential profits. Also, works closely with the school's Business Manager to ensure that all vocational programs comply with State and Federal laws pertaining to all budget decisions.

Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree preferred from an accredited college or university.
- Licensed by the Massachusetts Department of Education as a certified Vocational Administrator/Director/Supervisor.
- A minimum of five (5) years of successful teaching experience and or administrative experience in a vocational setting or equivalent preferred.
- Leadership experiences - chairman of teacher’s committees, school counselor, officer of professional or community organizations, school administration, or equivalent.
- Excellent organizational, management, oral, written communication, as well as interpersonal skills required.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule that includes after-school hours.
