Vocational Rehabilitation Supervisor

Opportunities for Ohioans with Disabilities (OOD) is seeking a Vocational Rehabilitation Supervisor to join our team and support our mission of helping Ohioans with disabilities achieve employment and greater independence.

About the role

This role offers an opportunity to guide and develop a team of Vocational Rehabilitation Counselors who provide services that help individuals reach their career goals. As a supervisor, you will oversee day-to-day service delivery, ensure consistent and timely support for participants, and help staff grow through coaching, training, and regular performance evaluation.

• Review cases and caseloads for compliance and quality
• Monitor expenditures and support professional development across the team
• Support the referral and intake process, handle participant concerns, and prepare reports that reflect program progress and outcomes
• Temporarily take on caseload duties or assist with administrative projects within the area or statewide as needed

You will also build community relationships by representing OOD with partner organizations, school systems, businesses, and other agencies to strengthen resources for participants and facilitate collaboration. This includes:

• Participating in committees and attending meetings
• Supporting inter-agency agreements
• Helping identify strategies that improve services
• Assisting in the development of contracts or grants
• Taking part in outreach and public-facing activities that explain OOD’s programs and goals

Additionally, you will resolve concerns related to casework or business operations, respond to inquiries from the public or government officials, and maintain accurate records when issues arise.

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need knowledge of:

Strong reasoning skills are essential for identifying problems, gathering information, and drawing conclusions. You should be proficient using Microsoft Office and related agency software, as well as general office equipment. The role requires the ability to:

• Understand government processes
• Maintain clear, respectful communication

Qualifications

• 3 years of experience as a vocational rehabilitation counselor or vocational rehabilitation program specialist with Opportunities for Ohioans with Disabilities
• OR completion of an undergraduate core program in a human services area AND 5 years of experience in a private/governmental agency in a position providing direct counseling services
• OR completion of a graduate core program in a human services area AND 4 years of experience in a private/governmental agency in a position providing direct counseling services
• OR equivalent of the Minimum Class Qualifications for Employment noted above

Pay

Starting salary will be step 1, subject to law or union contract requirements. New hires advance to the next step in the range after 6 months and annually thereafter. Cost-of-living increases are applied each year, with additional longevity supplements beginning after 5 years.

Schedule

Full-time, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM, Monday through Friday.

Location

This position is primarily in-office to encourage collaboration and connection, though some locations may have adjusted on-site requirements based on space availability. Reporting details will be provided by the supervisor before the start date. Employees must reside at a location that allows for reasonable response time to workplace reporting requirements. Daytime travel within Ohio may be required. The selected candidate must provide their own transportation or, to operate a state vehicle, must have a valid driver’s license.
