About the role

The Oregon Department of Human Services is seeking a Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor to support employment and advancement opportunities for people with disabilities. Ideal candidates should have experience working with individuals with various disabilities and a strong commitment to providing culturally appropriate services.

Responsibilities

  • Manage a full caseload and contribute to VR performance measures.
  • Ensure compliance with state, federal, and agency standards for all cases.
  • Utilize ORCA to enter, update, and retrieve client information.
  • Complete VR tasks using technology and software.
  • Screen, interview, and evaluate medical and psychological information.
  • Schedule aptitude and personality interest tests and interpret results.
  • Gather and evaluate pertinent materials for vocational counseling and guidance.
  • Determine physical restorative requirements and coordinate with other agencies.
  • Provide direct job placement services including employer incentives and assistive technology.
  • Contact employers to place clients in suitable employment.
  • Maintain relationships with community organizations and attend events.
  • Collaborate with community partners for integrated VR services.
  • Travel to Coos and Curry counties to support clients.

Requirements

  • A valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record.
  • A master's degree in Rehabilitation Counseling, CRC, CIRS, or CDMS certification, or relevant field experience.
  • One year of full-time work experience in vocational rehabilitation-related services.
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field with two years of full-time work experience.
  • Experience working with individuals with disabilities.
  • Experience with technology and computer systems.
  • Ability to screen, interview, and evaluate medical and psychological information.
  • Experience in implementing Federal laws and regulations.
  • Culturally competent service delivery.

Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Rehabilitation Counseling, CRC, CIRS, or CDMS certification.
  • One-year full-time work experience in vocational rehabilitation-related services.
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field with two years of full-time work experience.
  • Experience working with individuals with disabilities.
  • Experience with technology and computer systems.

  • Experience in implementing Federal laws and regulations.
  • Culturally competent service delivery.

Pay

$4,954 - $7,592 annually.

Schedule

Monday-Friday 8:00-5:00pm, with occasional flexibility based on business needs.
