About the role
The Oregon Department of Human Services is seeking a Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor to support individuals with disabilities in achieving employment and advancement opportunities.
Responsibilities
- Manage a full caseload and contribute to VR performance measures.
- Ensure compliance with state, federal, and agency standards for all cases.
- Utilize ORCA to enter, update, and retrieve client information.
- Complete VR tasks using technology and software, including virtual meetings and electronic signatures.
- Screen, interview, and evaluate medical and psychological information to determine eligibility for services.
- Schedule aptitude and personality interest tests and interpret test results.
- Gather and evaluate pertinent materials to provide vocational counseling and guidance.
- Determine physical restorative requirements and coordinate with other agencies.
- Provide career and vocational counseling to clients and facilitate job placement.
- Contact employers to place clients in suitable employment, including on-the-job training and supportive work.
- Maintain relationships with community organizations and attend relevant events.
- Collaborate with community partners for integrated VR services.
- Travel to a broad two-county service area - Coos and Curry counties, from the assigned branch location in Gold Beach.
Requirements
- A valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record.
- A master's degree in Rehabilitation Counseling OR certification as a Certified Rehabilitation Counselor (CRC), Certified Insurance Rehabilitation Specialist (CIRS), or Certified Disability Management Specialist (CDMS).
- One year full-time work experience providing vocational rehabilitation-related services, or a combination of a bachelor's degree and two years of full-time work experience.
- Experience working with individuals with various disabilities and providing culturally appropriate services.
- Bilingual in Spanish and English (preferred).
Qualifications
- A master's degree in Rehabilitation Counseling, Psychology, Counseling, or a related field.
- One year full-time work experience providing vocational rehabilitation-related services.
- Experience working with individuals with mental health, intellectual, and/or developmental disabilities.
- Experience in navigating technology and different computer systems.
- Experience in screening, interviewing, and evaluating medical and psychological information.
- Experience supporting job seekers with interview techniques, completing job applications, and resumes.
- Understanding of Federal laws and regulations.
- Experience providing culturally appropriate services.
Skills
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Proficiency in using automated case management systems and technology.
- Knowledge of employment incentives and resources.
- Ability to navigate and utilize different computer systems.

Pay
$4,954 - $7,592 annually.
Schedule
Monday-Friday, 8:00-5:00pm, with occasional fluctuations based on business needs.
