Responsibilities
- Provide direction and leadership in the development of a comprehensive Vocational curriculum for grades 9 - 12.
- Oversee the development and enhancement of the Vocational curriculum for instructional programs and collaborate with teachers and administration in the development and maintenance of the Vocational curriculum, including partnerships and grants.
- Work with staff members, both in the classroom and in professional development opportunities, to support differentiated instruction and tiered interventions.
- Maintain responsive lines of communication among students, parents, and staff.
- Assist in administrations of all required assessments.
- Assist in implementation of school based rules and BPS Code of Conduct.
- Supervise and direct the work of teachers and support staff assigned to the department, including evaluation of their performance.
Qualifications
- Master’s Degree in Education or related field required.
- Massachusetts Supervisor/Director license.
- Five (5) years teaching and managerial experience.
- Massachusetts Administrator teaching license in Vocational Education or related content area and SEI Endorsement.
- Demonstrated leadership qualities, interpersonal skills, and personal characteristics necessary for working effectively with students, teachers, administrators, and parents.
- Experience and training in the supervision and evaluation of teachers/as a professional developer.
- Interest in working in fast-paced environment and ability to manage multiple responsibilities with humor and enthusiasm.
Benefits
The BASAS contract year runs from September 1 through August 31. All BASAS members must work 183 school days with teachers. The additional days beyond the 183 school days shall be agreed upon with your supervisor and should be coded by your supervisor or secretary as 'S6500' in the timesheet. These days may be fulfilled before, during, or following the school year, all work must be completed between September 1 and August 31.
