VMware Administrator

About the Role

This position focuses on VMware vSphere administration, Azure cloud engineering, and migration from VMware to Azure. The role involves managing enterprise-scale infrastructure, automation, backup/disaster recovery, and cloud governance.

Responsibilities

• Administer VMware vSphere environments (ESXi, vCenter, vSAN) at enterprise scale (300+ VMs).
• Configure and manage vSphere Replication, Distributed Switches (vDS), and high-availability clusters.
• Lead VMware-to-Azure migration projects using Azure Migrate and Azure Site Recovery (ASR).
• Design and implement Azure IaaS solutions, including VMs, disks, networking (VLANs, routing), and storage integration (SAN/NAS).
• Manage backup and disaster recovery using Veeam, SRM, or equivalent tools.
• Automate infrastructure using Terraform, ARM/Bicep templates, PowerShell, or Azure CLI.
• Monitor performance, capacity, and security hardening of enterprise infrastructure (compute, storage, networking).
• Coordinate migration projects, including documentation and project management.
• Troubleshoot and perform root-cause analysis for infrastructure issues.
• Implement cloud governance, RBAC, Azure Policies, and cost-optimization strategies.

Requirements

• 5+ years of VMware vSphere administration experience in enterprise environments.
• Hands-on expertise in vCenter, ESXi, vSAN, and vSphere Replication.
• Proven experience migrating VMware workloads to Azure using Azure Migrate and ASR.
• Strong understanding of Azure IaaS, networking (ExpressRoute, VPN, VNets, NSGs), and storage.
• Backup and disaster recovery expertise with Veeam, SRM, or equivalent.

Qualifications

• Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, ARM/Bicep) and automation (PowerShell, Azure CLI).
• Familiarity with Azure PaaS services and cloud cost optimization.
• Certifications: VCP-DCV, Azure Administrator (AZ-104), or Azure Solutions Architect (AZ-305) preferred.
• Strong documentation and project management skills.
