VLS Technician
About the role
The Vortex Companies, LLC delivers cutting edge trenchless technologies and turnkey services to make the worlds water cleaner. Vortex Lining Systems provides a large diameter pipe lining system that utilizes a state-of-the-art geopolymer mortar. The VLS rehabilitation team lead the industry in experience, job-site safety and installation quality. The role of the technician is to learn multiple positions within the crew and assist team members with safety, inspection, cleaning/preparation, repairs, and rehabilitation of structures.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Must represent the company with professionalism and integrity
- Assure customer expectations are met or exceeded in a manner that maximizes profitability without compromising safety or quality standards
- Work effectively with supervisors and all members of the crew
- Load materials and equipment into vehicles for transportation to and from the job site
- Set up traffic control, safety equipment, and installation equipment at the job site
- Assist in measuring, marking, and preparing materials for installation
- Assist equipment operators so that they can effectively complete the work
- Enter below ground utility structures
- Ensure the site is left clean before the crew leaves
- Clean vehicles, equipment and keep the site/support trailer organized and clean
- Perform other related duties as required
- Comply with all government and corporate safety procedures
Skills
- Shotcrete/Gunite experience
- Concrete finishing
- Capable of following instructions and learning via On-Job training
- Ability to operate a variety of simple and complex tools
Qualifications
- Experience working in a physical labor position and/or outdoor construction preferred
- Ability to work overtime and out of town
- Ability to enter and work in confined spaces
- Ability to perform physically demanding tasks and lift over 50 lbs
- Must be able to pass pre-employment drug test, D.O.T. physical and driver's license check for past 36 months without any suspensions or major traffic violations (D.O.T. requirements)
Schedule
This is a full-time, non-exempt position. Days and hours of work are typically Monday through Friday and includes shift work, weekends, evenings, holidays. Flexibility is required as job duties demand.
