Vitamin/Body Care Assistant

About the role

This is a 40-hour-per-week Vitamin/Body Care Assistant position supporting the vitamin and body care departments. The role works five days per week with a schedule that includes evenings, weekends, and holidays. Attendance at mandatory store meetings is required. This position is not intended to serve as the overall Manager on Duty.

Responsibilities

• Provide world-class customer service and create a positive customer experience as the top priority.

• Create inviting, fully stocked, and shoppable departments.
• Assist department managers with ordering, inventory accuracy, margin management, sales growth, and overall profitability (including shrink reduction and effective purchasing).
• Ensure all in-stock products and conditions meet company standards.
• Offer and follow up on special orders.
• Merchandise shelves, endcaps, and dynamic displays; participate in tagging, facing, rotating, cleaning, markdowns, stocking, and backstock.
• Assist in training, monitoring, and task assignment for department personnel.
• Conduct active and passive product demonstrations.
• Work with department managers to address performance issues.
• Support store opening and closing activities, including Daily Sales Report (DSR), cash handling, and cashier closeout responsibilities.
• Handle register functions: backup cashiering, customer returns, complaint resolution, and shift coverage including breaks.
• Maintain safety and security for customers and employees.
• Answer customer questions per company standards and policies, including use of Health Supportive Statements and/or statements of nutritional support.
• Continually increase product knowledge.
• Use SAP, inventory management software, email, and other IS programs as needed.

Qualifications

• High School diploma, GED, or equivalent preferred.
• 1 year of experience in grocery or retail environment preferred; natural foods background is a plus.
• 1 year of supervisory experience preferred.
• 1 year of experience with vitamins/supplements preferred.
• Ability to pass food safety training courses and/or certifications as required by law and maintain compliance.
• Ability to manage changing priorities and stay focused on the task at hand.
• Sense of urgency in completing tasks.
• Excellent customer service skills.
• Highly organized with strong attention to detail.
• Ability to take direction and follow through.
• Cashier trained and able to count currency.
• Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.

Physical Capabilities and Environmental Demands

• Physical Requirements: Constantly lift/carry up to 10 lbs.; frequently lift/carry 11–20 lbs.; occasionally lift/carry 21–50 lbs.; occasionally lift/carry 51–100 lbs. with a team lift. Frequently push/pull up to 15 lbs.; occasionally push/pull 16–100 lbs. Constantly walk, stand, use fine motor manipulations, grip, bend, twist, turn, and reach outward for the duration of the shift. Frequently reach above chest. Occasionally sit, squat, kneel, and climb as needed. Constantly use computer for data entry and mouse.
• Environmental Requirements: Frequently work with sharp tools and equipment, dust, fumes, and congested worksites. Occasionally work with noise, cold, heat, wet, humidity, outdoor conditions, heights, and contact stress.
