Vital Statistics Supervisor

About the role

Summit County Public Health is seeking a Vital Statistics Supervisor to oversee daily administration, legal compliance, and staff training for Summit County Vital Statistics operations. This role ensures accurate processing of birth, death, and fetal death records, manages program finances, liaises with government agencies, and drives continuous service improvements to support public and interagency needs.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the registration and processing of all birth, death, and fetal deaths occurring in Summit County.
• Manage the ongoing conversion and archiving of vital documents.
• Supervise Vital Statistics staff, providing guidance and continuous training to ensure unified policy enforcement.
• Evaluate and improve customer service delivery to enhance the customer experience.
• Interpret state and county regulations concerning birth and death issues and enforce vital statistics laws among doctors, hospitals, and funeral directors.
• Prepare applications for registration of birth, death, and fetal death events, affidavits to amend records, burial, cremation and transient permits, and acknowledgment of paternity affidavits.
• Collaborate with local, state, and federal agencies on laws, policies, procedures, and data verification requests.
• Oversee fee collections, monitor budget allocations, and analyze long-term funding projections for program and staffing needs.
• Prepare administrative and operational reports tracking vital statistics program performance.
• Provide coverage for the main agency reception desk.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of local and state vital statistics laws, rules, and procedures.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Public Health or a related field.
• Three to five years of directly related work experience.
• Valid Ohio driver's license, automobile availability, and insurance coverage.

Compensation & Total Rewards

• Compensation: $66,921.40 annually (equivalent to $36.77 per hour working 35 hours per week).
