About the role
The Visual Merchandising Specialist at Wayfair is responsible for translating seasonal strategies and brand standards into inspiring, shoppable spaces. This role requires 1–3 years of in-store visual merchandising experience and 1–3 years of experience in retail or customer-facing sales roles, preferably in home goods, décor, or furnishings.
Responsibilities
- Execute Visual Standards: Own visual execution across the store, including seasonal floorsets, marketing signage, lighting displays, and occasional basic installations like wallpapering or electrical updates—always aligned with Wayfair’s brand standards.
- Collaborate Across Departments: Partner with leaders and team members to ensure visual priorities are aligned, well-executed, and adapted to sell-through or sales trends as needed.
- Maintain Presentation Excellence: Conduct daily and weekly walk-throughs using the Visual Merchandising Checklist to assess and improve store presentation with a sharp, strategic eye.
- Demonstrate Reliability: Your consistency matters—showing up on time and ready to go ensures our guests receive an experience that’s seamless from open to close. If challenges come up, proactive communication is key.
- Adept with Agility: Move with urgency when things shift. Whether it’s a product launch or pivoting visual priorities, you stay calm, focused, and ready to execute.
- Drive Sales Through Visual Impact: Use product knowledge, judgment, and trend insights to make display decisions that enhance the guest experience and support sales.

Requirements
- Visual Merchandising Experience: 1–3 years of in-store visual merchandising experience required. Background in home furnishings or interior design is a plus.
- Retail Sales Insight: 1–3 years of experience in retail or customer-facing sales roles, preferably in home goods, décor, or furnishings.
- Planogram Know-How: Experience reading and executing store layouts or planograms preferred.
- Schedule Flexibility: Ability to work a retail schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays to support business needs.
- Organizational Strength: A multitasking pro with top-notch time management, accuracy, and the ability to prioritize on the fly.
- Tech Confidence: Comfortable using visual merchandising software, devices, and other store tools to support planning and execution.

Additional Physical And Environmental Requirements
- Physical Activity: Frequent standing, walking, and reaching with hands and arms; occasional sitting, climbing, balancing, and crawling.
- Mobility & Movement: Frequent stooping, kneeling, and crouching throughout the day.
- Lifting Ability: Ability to lift and move up to 50 lbs independently on a regular basis. Some projects may involve heavier items, which must be managed with proper assistance or equipment.
- Vision Requirements: Includes close, distance, color, and peripheral vision; depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
- Temperature Flexibility: Comfortable in environments with varying temperature conditions.
