About the role

As a member of the Visual team at Wayfair, you help bring our brand to life by creating an inspiring, polished, and welcoming in-store experience. You play a key role in executing visual merchandising standards, maintaining presentation excellence, and ensuring every customer interaction begins with a visually compelling environment. From seasonal floorsets and signage updates to daily merchandising upkeep, you help transform the store into a space that tells cohesive product stories and inspires customers to imagine possibilities for their home.

This role requires a strong eye for detail, creativity, organization, and the ability to execute consistently in a fast-paced retail environment. You will support visual priorities while collaborating closely with store leadership and cross-functional teams to ensure displays remain current, shoppable, and aligned with brand standards. Whether replenishing merchandise, styling displays, or supporting promotional updates, you help ensure the store always looks its best for every guest.

Our Visual Merchandising Associates play a critical role in defining the customer experience as we scale, making this an ideal opportunity for individuals who are creative, hands-on, and passionate about retail presentation and home inspiration.

Key Metrics

  • Visual Associate: Efficiently execute merchandising tasks, maintain visually compelling displays, and support streamlined merchandise movement from stockroom to sales floor. Ensures product is presented accurately, consistently, and according to Wayfair visual standards.
  • Visual Specialist: Owns the visual presentation and merchandising standards for an assigned department. Ensures displays remain customer-ready, promotional updates are executed accurately, and department presentation consistently reflects Wayfair brand standards.
  • Senior Visual Specialist: Leads visual merchandising excellence across multiple departments. Supports the onboarding, training, and development of Visual Associates and Visual Specialists. Coaches visual merchandising best practices, drives execution consistency, and partners with leadership to elevate presentation standards, merchandise storytelling, operational efficiency, and overall team capability.

Responsibilities

Customer Engagement & Sales

  • Lead with Connection: Build authentic relationships by asking thoughtful questions to understand each customer’s needs, preferences, and project goals.
  • Guide the Journey: Support customers through the full shopping experience—from inspiration to purchase—reducing friction and creating clarity.
  • Always Be Filling (ABF): Approach every direction as an opportunity to provide excellent deals/show off the best product.
  • Accurate Pricing and Signage: Improve the shopper journey by ensuring all products and prices are correctly represented via electronic shelf labels (ESLs), brand-specific displays, and functional or promotional signage.

Visual Merchandising & Presentation

  • Execute Visual Standards: Support the execution of visual floorsets, maintain accurate signage, and complete daily visual upkeep tasks including folding, steaming, styling beds, and organizing displays.
  • Maintain Presentation Excellence: Make real-time merchandising adjustments based on direction from store leadership and visual guides to ensure alignment with brand standards. Ensure displays remain polished, visually compelling, and customer-ready throughout the day.
  • Support promotional transitions and seasonal updates across the sales floor.

Merchandise Flow & Store Readiness

  • Support Merchandise Flow: Replenish merchandise and ensure displays remain full, organized, and shoppable. Maintain product placement accuracy and presentation consistency throughout the store utilizing all tools.
  • Assist with floor moves, display resets, and merchandising updates as business needs evolve.
  • Help maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming shopping environment.

Tools, Systems & Execution

  • Use Visual Tools with Confidence: Utilize store technology, visual merchandising tools, and floorset plans to support daily execution.
  • Reference visual standards and execution guides to maintain consistency across displays and presentations.
  • Follow operational processes and merchandising timelines to ensure timely execution of visual priorities.
  • Identify opportunities to improve visual presentation and overall customer experience.

Guest Engagement & Collaboration

  • Engage with Guests: Provide friendly, helpful service while assisting customers with questions, wayfinding, and product availability. Help customers connect with product stories and inspiration throughout the store environment.
  • Collaborate closely with store leaders, visual teams, and cross-functional partners to ensure execution aligns with Wayfair brand standards.
  • Support overall team success through flexibility, communication, and a positive attitude.

Qualifications

Requirements

  • 1–3 years of experience supporting visual merchandising, department resets, or store presentation (required).
  • 1–3 years of experience in a retail or service role where you engaged directly with guests (preferred).
  • Ability to stand for a full day and lift up to 50 lbs independently on a regular basis.
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Eye for detail and comfort with store technology.
  • Adaptability and professionalism (able to stay calm under pressure, adapt to change).
  • Schedule flexibility (expected to work nights, weekends, and holidays).
  • Can read and understand English.
