Visual Field Technician/Ophthalmic Assistant (FT) | Ophthalmology | Ames | 2026-179

Responsibilities

• Educates patients and performs ancillary testing: Visual field, topo, and OCT.
• Prepares patients for exam or treatments, takes visual acuity and performs basic screening tests.
• Takes brief history and other medical information needed.
• Answers patients' questions and reinforces patient education and treatment.

Requirements

• High School Diploma, GED, or HiSET.
• Experience in ophthalmic setting preferred but on-the-job training available.
• Excellent customer service skills and ability to multi-task.
• Keyboard and computer experience.
• One year of work experience in a medical office setting preferred.

Qualifications

• Pre-employment drug screen and criminal history background checks are a condition of hire.

Skills

• Basic ophthalmic techniques.
• Working knowledge of advanced ophthalmic equipment.
