Role Overview
This role involves conceiving and implementing visual design solutions for complex product initiatives. The Visual Experience Designer will work on moderately complex projects, participating in the creation and evolution of visual experience design strategy. This position requires working independently with guidance from higher-level staff to ensure deliverables are engaging, on-brand, and drive cross-channel projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Participate in developing and recommending comprehensive visual design solutions.
- Optimize the user experience by creating on-brand visual compositions.
- Influence team members and business partners by explaining the impact of user-centered design.
- Collaborate with project teams to define the visual identity for deliverables.
- Participate in defining user experience goals through visual engagement.
- Design and implement user-centered deliverables and document project specification requirements.
- Operate within Design Thinking methodology based on product, channel, and audience needs.
- Create and apply visual design best practices, such as composition, color theory, accessibility, and typography.
- Create prototypes for testing to ensure design meets business and user objectives.
- Manage multiple projects under tight deadlines across a variety of product categories.
- Ensure IT deliverables meet design expectations and remain abreast of emerging technologies.
Required Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor's Degree in Graphic Design, User-Centered Design/Human-Computer Interaction, or the equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
- Experience: 5-10 years of experience, including exposure to managing multiple priorities, performing analysis of business processes, and familiarity with project management.
- Technical Skills: Familiarity with UX design principles, design fundamentals (color theory, typography, composition), and knowledge of interaction design and visual design industry standards. Knowledge of user-centered design processes and modern development standards (e.g., HTML, XHTML, AJAX, JavaScript, CSS) is necessary. Proficiency in PowerPoint presentation design and data visualization tools like PowerBI is also required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of web, mobile, and application design.
- Human Factors Institute Certified Analyst certification.
- Familiarity with BI reporting tools.
