This position offers an opportunity to influence the visual language of a leading technology brand, ensuring consistency, innovation, and excellence across all touchpoints. The role is ideal for a designer who excels in systems thinking, meticulous attention to detail, and has a strong portfolio demonstrating web-based work. Reporting to the Director of Website Design Engineering, you can work remotely or from one of our hubs in San Francisco, New York, London, or Berlin, with optional in-office days for those within commuting distance.

Responsibilities

  • Define and develop the visual language for Vercel’s primary digital touchpoints, including vercel.com and nextjs.org
  • Establish a creative direction that guides the entire team’s design efforts
  • Create memorable moments such as hero animations, launch films, event environments, and brand-partnership visuals across digital and physical mediums
  • Own the end-to-end creative process from conceptualization to final implementation, collaborating closely with design engineers
  • Set and uphold high standards for craft, including typography, motion, and visual details that distinguish Vercel’s brand
  • Design across multiple mediums, including web, motion, illustration, 3D, and identity, elevating the brand wherever it appears
  • Influence and evolve shared design systems and patterns to establish consistency and excellence
  • Ensure that design work is feasible for development and aligns with technical constraints
  • Participate in team reviews, provide constructive feedback, and incorporate feedback constructively

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 8+ years of professional design experience with a strong portfolio showcasing brand systems and web work
  • Exceptional visual design skills with a keen eye for detail and originality
  • Proficiency in creating digital and physical brand assets, including motion, illustration, and environmental design
  • Experience designing components and patterns within scalable systems
  • Strong understanding of web layouts, motion, typography, and user interaction principles
  • Ability to work collaboratively with engineers and understand how design translates into code
  • Experience with launch moments, events, or brand partnerships under tight deadlines
  • Comfort with a technology-driven environment; familiarity with developer, SaaS, or B2B products is a plus
  • Self-motivated, receptive to feedback, and able to work independently or collaboratively
  • Familiarity with Vercel’s platform and tools is preferred
  • Bonus: Ability to prototype or implement ideas using React, Tailwind, or Next.js; experience contributing to large-scale design systems

Benefits

  • Competitive compensation package, including equity options
  • Inclusive healthcare coverage for employees and dependents
  • Opportunities for professional growth through mentorship and industry events
  • Flexible time off policies to support work-life balance
  • Provision of necessary work equipment and a WFH budget to customize your workspace
  • Participation in a forward-thinking company committed to diversity and inclusion
