Visual Designer
Contract Length: 4 months · Location: Remote · Pay Rate: $60–$75 per hour
About the role
We’re seeking a talented Visual Designer to help shape the visual language for live events and large-scale broadcast experiences. This is a hands-on design role for someone who can work within established systems, develop new creative ideas, and create polished graphics that scale across a wide range of live environments. You’ll work across visual design, design systems, motion, and information-driven graphics in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
Responsibilities
- Design and evolve scalable graphic systems for live events across sports, entertainment, and other programming.
- Create high-end custom graphics, layouts, inserts, fullscreen graphics, lower thirds, and other broadcast assets.
- Develop templates and toolkits that can scale across teams, properties, and formats.
- Design and animate intros, transitions, and other motion graphics using After Effects.
- Extend established brand guidelines and visual systems across new assets and applications.
- Create supporting sales and presentation materials when needed.
- Review live executions and identify opportunities to improve polish, clarity, and consistency.
- Collaborate with cross-functional partners to deliver high-quality work under tight deadlines.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience in a studio, agency, media, entertainment, broadcast, or similarly fast-paced environment.
- Expert-level Photoshop, Illustrator, and After Effects skills. After Effects is required, though you do not need to be a dedicated motion designer.
- Proven experience building and scaling design systems or visual toolkits.
- Strong creative judgment and the ability to clearly communicate design decisions.
- A portfolio demonstrating highly polished visual work alongside functional, information-driven graphics.
- Collaborative, curious, and self-directed working style.
- Ability to balance creative exploration with the technical discipline required for live production.
Preferred Qualifications
- Live sports, broadcast, entertainment, or streaming experience.
- Experience with Cinema 4D or other 3D applications and render engines.
- Experience creating motion systems rather than individual animations.
- Experience working with live data or complex information hierarchies.
- Figma experience.
- Experience scaling visual systems across multiple regions, audiences, or platforms.
Potential Projects
- Team and property logos and visual systems
- Front-end design and animation
- Broadcast inserts and fullscreen graphics
- Custom layouts and campaign graphics
- Lower thirds, slates, monitors, and on-set graphics
- Sales and presentation toolkits
- Templates and scalable production systems
Working Environment
This is a remote, time-zone-friendly role supporting live event production. Candidates should be comfortable with increased activity leading into major events and some availability around event days. The ideal candidate is a “part-time daydreamer” — someone who can imagine what’s possible, bring strong creative ideas to the table, and still understand the systems, technical requirements, and production realities needed to make great live graphics work.
