Visitor Center Clerk

About the role

The Visitor Center Clerk is responsible for assisting with the daily operation of the Meadowlark Botanical Gardens Visitor Center.

Responsibilities

• Greet visitors
• Operate cash register to sell tickets and gift shop items
• Provide information to visitors
• Answer telephone inquiries
• Interpret educational exhibits
• Perform daily opening/closing procedures for the Visitor Center building and cash register
• Receive deliveries, guests, and phone calls and route them to the appropriate staff member
• Assist with implementation of professional photography registration and rules
• Perform basic facility maintenance chores: assist with watering and weeding Visitor Center plants; clean restrooms, gift shop, lobby and other areas of the Visitor Center as necessary

Qualifications

• Considerable ability to communicate clearly and effectively with the public and staff members to provide excellent customer service
• Interest in botanical gardens and horticulture
• Ability to handle cash accurately and operate cash register
• Availability to work additional hours during peak operating times
• Strength and dexterity necessary to perform all required tasks, including lifting, stooping, bending, and working in tiring and uncomfortable positions

Pay

Pay Rate: $14.75 per hour
