Visiting Lecturer - Open Rank - Chemistry

About the Role

The Department of Chemistry and Chemical Biology at the University of New Mexico invites applications for a full-time, 9-month visiting lecturer position at an open rank, beginning August 10, 2026. This is a one-year appointment with the possibility of annual review.

Responsibilities

• Teach three undergraduate lecture sections per semester (Fall and Spring), which may include coordinating student assistants.
• Teach in at least two of the department’s undergraduate degree concentrations: analytical, inorganic, organic, chemical biology, and physical chemistry.
• Potential graduate-level teaching, depending on the candidate’s specialty and department needs.
• Participate in department service activities.

Requirements

• Specialization in any area of chemistry.
• Knowledge and experience teaching in at least two of the following undergraduate concentrations: analytical, inorganic, organic, chemical biology, or physical chemistry.

9-month appointment (academic year), beginning August 10, 2026.
