About the role

The Department of English at Oklahoma State University seeks applications for multiple openings for Visiting Instructors / Visiting Assistant Professors with a start date of August 2026. Research and teaching interests should include composition and writing studies and related areas of humanistic inquiry. This appointment may be renewable for up to three years, contingent upon satisfactory performance and availability of funding.

Responsibilities

  • Teach a 3-3 course load, supporting both the First-Year Composition program and the Cowboy Concurrent initiative.
  • In the First-Year Composition program, develop themed sections for in-person and online delivery of writing courses for learning communities organized by major and subject affinity (such as science and technology or global politics).
  • Teach Cowboy Concurrent courses that enroll high-school juniors and seniors who wish to earn college credit. These courses are offered both in-person and online.

Qualifications

  • Master's degree in English or other humanities discipline with experience in writing instruction
  • Ph.D./Ed.D. in English or other humanities discipline with experience in writing instruction

Requirements

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively mentor and collaborate with students and colleagues
