Position Description

Manhattan University, a Lasallian Catholic University, seeks applicants for a one-year position as Visiting Assistant Professor in Religious Studies. The position begins on August 27, 2026.

Job Responsibilities

  • Teach a 4/4 course load in Religious Studies, including the Lasallian Seminar and community engaged learning courses.
  • Design and deliver engaging, student-centered courses that support student learning.
  • Maintain regular office hours and provide academic advising and mentoring to students.
  • Assess student learning and provide timely, constructive feedback.
  • Foster an inclusive, respectful, and supportive classroom environment.
  • Participate in class-related community engagement activities.
  • Attend and contribute to departmental meetings, lectures, and other program events.
  • Collaborate with colleagues on departmental initiatives and curricular development as appropriate.
  • Support the university's Lasallian mission through active engagement with students and the campus community.

Requirements

  • Ph.D. in Theology, Religious Studies, or a closely related field required by the time of appointment.
  • Demonstrated expertise in Theology, Religious Studies, or a related discipline.
  • Evidence of a strong commitment to excellence in undergraduate teaching.
  • Ability to teach the Lasallian Seminar, community engaged learning, and additional courses in the Religious Studies curriculum.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Commitment to the mission and values of a Lasallian Catholic institution.
