About the role
The Department of Philosophy and Religious Studies at North Carolina State University invites applications for potential short-term teaching positions in Religious Studies during the 2026-27 academic year. These positions may involve teaching one or more courses for a single semester or the full academic year, depending on departmental needs.
Responsibilities
- Courses that may require instructors include Religious Traditions of the World, Asian Religions, Introduction to the Old Testament, Introduction to the New Testament, The Hindu Tradition, The Buddhist Traditions, Islam, and other Religious Studies (REL) courses listed in the NC State course catalog.
Qualifications
- Minimum Education and Experience:
- Lecturer: Master’s Degree in Religious Studies or related field, an equivalent degree or equivalent professional experience is required. If teaching graduate level courses, a Doctor’s Degree, an equivalent degree, or equivalent professional experience is required.
- Assistant Teaching Professor: Doctor’s Degree in Religious Studies or related field, an equivalent degree, or equivalent professional experience is required.
- Other Required Qualifications:
- Strong commitment to excellence in teaching is expected.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Preferred Qualifications:
- Ph.D. strongly preferred
