Job Duties

The Theatre and Dance Department at Bucknell University seeks a five-month sabbatical replacement of Visiting Assistant Professor in Costume Design for the spring semester of the 2026-27 academic year, in an undergraduate program with a long history of strong production values. Responsibilities include designing costumes for one dance concert (which consists of seven dances of different styles from guest choreographers, faculty choreographers and student choreographers); coordinating costumes for one theatre showcase production with assistance from the costume studio; collaborating with costume staff (studio manager and assistant costumer); and teaching Costume Design and a Special Topics course (in candidate’s area of specialization).

Qualifications

  • Hold an MFA in Costume Design (or a terminal degree equivalent with costume design experience)
  • Have prior teaching experience at a college level
  • Dance costume design is preferred
