About the Role

The successful candidate shall have a strong interest and ability to teach undergraduate courses and laboratories and to perform applied research. About the Department of Mechanical Engineering
The ME Department is home to 14 faculty members with a broad range of experience within industry, government, and academics. The department offers an inclusive, collegial, and highly collaborative faculty member environment, with far-reaching efforts in multidisciplinary challenges. The department is proud of its high-quality education programs and its nearly 100% placement rate in the industry or academic institutions.
The department seeks candidates who can strengthen the department’s educational offerings through classroom instruction, laboratory courses, faculty-mentored student-centered research, and extracurricular programs.
About the Prescott Campus College of Engineering
The College of Engineering (COE) faculty are housed in a modern academic complex, which is adjacent to robotics, mechatronics, propulsion, and wind tunnel laboratories. The COE faculty also make extensive use of the Aerospace Experimentation and Fabrication laboratory complex. This building consists of a fabrication suite, space systems lab, structural dynamics lab, materials science lab, mechanical testing lab, structures lab, and dedicated faculty research labs.
The recently completed Propulsion and Aerodynamics Complex is a 12,000 square foot building that houses resources and space for both the Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering Departments. The STEM Education building is home to the Robotics and Thermal-Energy Labs, our Rapid Prototyping Lab, and the Jim and Linda Lee Planetarium. All of these labs feature state-of-the-art equipment for undergraduate student use.
Responsibilities
- Teach undergraduate courses and laboratories in Mechanical Engineering.
- Perform applied research and mentor students on research and student projects.
- Collaborate with students and faculty on multidisciplinary challenges.
- Strengthen the department’s educational offerings through classroom instruction, laboratory courses, and extracurricular programs.
Qualifications
- An earned Doctorate in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering and related experience is desired.
- Candidates with significant industry experience and a Master’s degree are strongly encouraged to apply.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, written and oral communication skills, and a strong command of the English language.
