About the role

The Department of Mechanical Engineering (ME) at the University of Denver (DU) is building an academically diverse faculty and staff with a strong commitment to student support and research through the teacher-scholar model. The ME Department invites applications for a non-tenure track, full-time Visiting Teaching Assistant Professor for the 2026-27 academic year to begin on September 1, 2026. The appointment will be made for a nine-month position only.

Responsibilities

  • Teach around six quarter-based courses per year
  • Advising students
  • Participating in department and university service

Requirements

  • A passion for teaching and an ability to teach undergraduate Mechanical Engineering courses
  • Teaching experience in a college or university setting
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills and a teamwork mindset
  • PhD or terminal degree in mechanical engineering, biomedical engineering, engineering, or related field

Qualifications

  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience with teaching methods and/or pedagogies to effectively engage student populations
  • Experience in mentoring and student advising

Skills and Abilities

  • A passion for teaching and an ability to teach undergraduate Mechanical Engineering courses

Pay

The salary grade for the position is UC. The salary range for this position is $70,000-$80,000.
