Visiting Teaching Assistant Professor, Department of Mechanical Engineering
About the role
The Department of Mechanical Engineering (ME) at the University of Denver (DU) is building an academically diverse faculty and staff with a strong commitment to student support and research through the teacher-scholar model. The ME Department invites applications for a non-tenure track, full-time Visiting Teaching Assistant Professor for the 2026-27 academic year to begin on September 1, 2026. The appointment will be made for a nine-month position only.
Responsibilities
- Teach around six quarter-based courses per year
- Advising students
- Participating in department and university service
Requirements
- A passion for teaching and an ability to teach undergraduate Mechanical Engineering courses
- Teaching experience in a college or university setting
- Excellent oral and written communication skills and a teamwork mindset
- PhD or terminal degree in mechanical engineering, biomedical engineering, engineering, or related field
Qualifications
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience with teaching methods and/or pedagogies to effectively engage student populations
- Experience in mentoring and student advising
Skills and Abilities
- A passion for teaching and an ability to teach undergraduate Mechanical Engineering courses

Pay
The salary grade for the position is UC. The salary range for this position is $70,000-$80,000.
