The Department of Humanities & Communication seeks a visiting assistant professor or visiting instructor to teach writing courses on our Daytona Beach campus, beginning August 2026.

About the Role

This position includes a 4-4 teaching load with modest service expectations at the assistant professor level, or a 5-5 teaching load with no required service at the instructor level. The person hired may teach courses in technical communication, composition, speech, or humanities.

About the Department of Humanities & Communication

In addition to offering general education courses in communication, humanities, and writing at a STEM-focused university, the department delivers academic programs in Communication and Interdisciplinary Studies, with minors in Humanities, Communication, Latin American Studies, Arabic Studies, Russian Studies, and Chinese Studies. The department has 39 full-time faculty members.

Qualifications

  • The ideal candidate will have a record of teaching excellence at the college level, a commitment to general education, and a keen interest in teaching writing at a STEM-oriented institution.
  • Preferred candidates will hold a Ph.D. in Communication, English, or a closely related discipline.
  • Applicants who are ABD or have a master’s degree will be considered at the instructor level.
