About the role

The College of New Jersey (TCNJ) invites applications for a two-year Global Art History Teaching Postdoc in the Department of Art and Art Education with a joint appointment in the International Studies Program. We seek a candidate with outstanding potential to become an innovative teacher-scholar, whose research and educational experiences have prepared them to contribute to an interdisciplinary and inclusive global art history curriculum.

Responsibilities

  • Teach four courses each semester, including two sections of AAH 102: The World’s Art, 1400-present and two sections of a seminar, Global Modernisms, cross-listed between Art History and International Studies.
  • Supplement core courses with courses in the candidate’s area of specialization.
  • Teach lower-level courses capped at 32 students and seminars capped at 18 students.
  • Be mentored by the Department chair and further supported by TCNJ’s Center for Excellence in Teaching and Learning.

Requirements

  • Be an advanced ABD candidate or have obtained a Ph.D. in Art History or a closely related field within the last five years.
  • Show evidence of ability to teach within a global art history curriculum through publications, conference presentations, dissertation research, teaching, or other educational experiences.
  • Show cultural competency and ability to foster inclusive learning environments and mutual respect for students and colleagues from diverse backgrounds.

Pay

Range 22/$ 90,190.21
