Vision Systems Technician I - Electrode Inspection

LG Energy Solution Michigan Inc. (LGESMI) develops and manufactures large lithium-ion polymer batteries and packs for electric vehicle (EV) and energy storage applications.

About the role

This position manages, analyzes, and improves vision systems that are computer- or vision-controller-based. This role creates, monitors, and modifies the overall system, simulation and testing, and start-up, and employs multiple advanced resources to troubleshoot and create solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Perform Omron or Keyence Stand-alone Vision Controller using various inspection logic
  • Perform PC-based inspection programs developed by vendors using various inspection logic
  • Be responsible for incident follow-up, root cause analysis, and documentation
  • Document control system and equipment configuration changes
  • Install, maintain, and troubleshoot relay logic, inspection flow, and control components – photo eyes, motor starters, relays, limit switches, proximity sensors, solenoids, Servo drives, frequency inverters, linear drives, tachometers, and encoders
  • Troubleshoot various status of inspection methods (I/O boards, encoder, light controller, modules, and devices)
  • Develop and maintain a good working relationship across all levels in the organization
  • Provide enriched feedback to enhance individual performance
  • Complete all safety training as required
  • Comply with all ELS safety programs, policies, and procedures
  • Maintain cleanliness at work-site in accordance with 5S3R Standards: Sort, Set in order, Shine, Standardize, Sustain – Right Location, Right Quantity, Right Container
  • Follow LGESMI existing cleaning SOPs during downtime (e.g., line stop, waiting time), which includes cleaning your designated machine and/or surrounding work area
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • High School Diploma/GED required
  • Vocational Certificate or Associate Degree preferred or equivalent, relevant experience
  • 1 to 3+ years of related machining experience or equivalent, relevant experience

Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to properly and regularly utilize the following PPE for a period of up to 12 hours:
    • Safety glasses
    • Steel-toed shoes
    • Latex Gloves
    • Nitrile Gloves
    • Respirator
  • Must be able to do the following repeatedly for a period of up to 12 hours, up to 7 days a week:
    • Lift/push/pull up to 50 pounds
    • Stoop, twist, bend
    • Reach overhead
    • Sit and/or stand

Schedule

12-hour rotating day/night shift
