About the role

The Vision Center Assistant will be responsible for answering and directing all telephone calls within the department. Assists patient in scheduling of appointment or ancillary tests, rescheduling and cancellation of appointments. Distribute written prescriptions and sample medications carefully, verifying names before dispersing. Responsible for all patient registrations. Completes cash drawer reconciliation. Follows the "Missed Appointment" procedure and take care of all no-show appointments for the day and other miscellaneous duties as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Distribute written prescriptions and sample medications, verifying names before dispersing
  • Handle all patient registrations
  • Complete cash drawer reconciliation
  • Follow the "Missed Appointment" procedure and manage all no-show appointments for the day
  • Perform other miscellaneous duties as needed

Requirements

  • High school diploma, GED or equivalent
  • Keyboarding minimum of 50 WPM
  • Knowledge of 10 key
  • Ability to comprehend, retain and apply given information
  • Experience in office procedures helpful but not necessary
  • One-year experience in health care field / environment preferred
  • Basic Life Support Certification within 6 months of hire

Pay

Starting pay range varies based on experience up to 10 years.
