Job Summary
The Virtual Registered Nurse (VRN) is responsible for providing professional nursing care through two-way audio/visual technology, conducting virtual nursing rounds, and collaborating with the healthcare team.
Responsibilities
- Assess and care for patients via video conferencing.
- Provide virtual health assessments, treatment solutions, and follow-up from the Virtual Command Center.
- Create, implement, and monitor care plans in collaboration with other care teams.
- Develop, update, and communicate plan of care, including discharge, in partnership with the patient, family, and interprofessional health care team.
- Prioritize care based on patient needs, abilities, and preferences.
- Advocate on behalf of patients and families to identify and resolve clinical and ethical concerns.
- Collaborate with interprofessional health care team to facilitate patient throughput efficiently.
- Develop and implement effective patient teaching strategies based on learning needs.
- Evaluate patient comprehension and adapt teaching methods accordingly.
- Anticipate/prevent and recognize/resolve early declines in patient condition and emergent situations.
- Contribute to the development of service line and hospital standards and guidelines.
- Coach and mentor nursing staff in areas of clinical and professional practice.
- Led initiatives to improve quality and safety scores on the unit and hospital scorecards.
- Lead unit and shared governance activities.
- Serve as the clinical resource.
- Document in Electronic Medical Record each encounter with clinical staff.
- Ensure that reporting is in place to demonstrate program outcomes and support performance improvement activities.
Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited nursing program and experience as a Registered Nurse.
- Valid RN License from Virginia or reciprocal compact state.
- BSN preferred.
- Three (3) years acute care nursing experience.
- AHA BLS Provider CPR.
- Computer skills and dexterity required for data entry and retrieval of information.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills and the ability to present information clearly and professionally.
- Proficient with Windows-style applications, various software packages specific to role, and keyboard.
- Preferred ANCC-recognized certification in applicable specialty area.
