Virtual Reading Specialist, Unbound Academy (Remote) - $60,000/year USD

What You Will Be Doing

• Create and facilitate virtual small-group and individual reading intervention sessions for learners in grades 3–8
• Leverage reading assessment data to identify fluency and comprehension deficits and modify instruction rapidly
• Adapt learning activities across varied reading proficiency levels, including accommodations for dyslexia and associated reading challenges
• Monitor student progress systematically and consistently, using data insights to inform subsequent sessions
• Facilitate structured motivational conversations that strengthen confidence, perseverance, and ownership of progress

What You Won’t Be Doing

• Deliver large, whole-class instruction or present from a standardized curriculum
• Adhere to a pre-written program without tailoring to individual learner needs and immediate feedback
• Serve as a passive "technology supervisor" without substantive teaching and relationship-building
• Depend on superficial incentives that fail to cultivate enduring motivation

Basic Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in education, literacy, or a closely related field
• Reading intervention certification or endorsement (e.g., Arizona Reading Specialist K-12 or equivalent state certification)
• Specialized training or certification in dyslexia intervention (or related structured literacy approaches)
• At least 2 years of experience delivering small-group or one-on-one reading interventions for students in grades 3–8
• Experience supporting students with dyslexia or related reading difficulties
• Strong ability to engage and manage students in a virtual setting through clear, motivating communication

Working with Us

• This is a full-time (40 hours per week), long-term position
• The position is immediately available and requires entering into an independent contractor agreement with Crossover as a Contractor of Record
• The compensation level for this role is $30 USD/hour, which equates to $60,000 USD/year assuming 40 hours per week and 50 weeks per year
• The payment period is weekly
