About the role
The Part-time Professional School Counselor provides direction and support to students enrolled in and seeking to enroll in the adult high school. This involves responsible planning, day-to-day management, and monitoring, including working with students, school faculty and staff, parents, and guardians.
Responsibilities
- Plans, implements, and tracks individual high school graduation plans and post-graduation data;
- Identifies and resolves barriers to graduation;
- Assists with college and career choices and planning;
- Facilitates college and/or career transition;
- Serves as liaison between the Project Graduation program and postsecondary entities to explore new and/or innovative directions;
- Administers the virtual registration/enrollment for students in grades 6-12 exclusively (full-time) and/or concurrently (part-time) enrolled in multiple home schools;
- Provides assistance to students and instructors to problem solve issues that arise related to progress towards academic goals, persistence, and attendance from high school upperclassmen to functioning early college participates;
- Counsels high school students at risk of dropping out and collaboratively works with school based and district personnel to develop a strategic plan to develop credit recovery and alternative options to adapt curriculum and differentiated instruction to meet their needs;
- Affords assistance to students in the completion of postsecondary enrollment processes which includes, but is not limited to the admission application, course registration, financial aid, and new student orientation registration;
- Attends and participates in ongoing professional development including the EIS system to ensure accurate tracking of graduation cohort data and district supports;
- Works with surrounding business and workforce agencies to receive up to date information on high tech industry jobs and skills in demand.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in a related field required;
- Three (3) years related experience required;
- Seven (7) years of related experience may be considered in lieu of degree;
- Master's degree and experience with educational technology preferred.
