Virtual Physician (Part-Time - 1099)
About the role
As a part-time virtual physician at General Medicine, you will join a clinical community committed to providing high-quality, accessible primary care through telemedicine and intelligent technology. You will practice within a modern virtual care system designed to provide full patient context and reduce administrative burden.
Responsibilities
- Practice as part of a broader care model that includes asynchronous and synchronous virtual care, coordination of labs and imaging, specialist e-consults, and referrals to in-person care when appropriate.
- Guide patients through decisions and next steps, maintaining clinical ownership rather than handing care off after a single interaction.
- Work within a modern virtual care system designed to provide full patient context and eliminate administrative burden.
- Engage with modern clinical tools and workflows, including asynchronous chat and synchronous video visits, rapid access to specialist input, expedited labs, imaging, and referrals within patients' insurance networks.
- Enjoy helping patients navigate complex decisions beyond isolated visits and value continuity, follow-through, and patient partnership over transactional encounters.
Requirements
- MD or DO, board-certified or board-eligible in Family Medicine or Internal Medicine.
- Active, unrestricted medical licenses covering at least 40% of the U.S. population, with multi-state licensure required.
- Comfort practicing broad general medicine with diagnostic ambiguity and clinical synthesis.
- Strong communication skills and a collaborative, patient-centered approach to care.
- Willingness to engage with modern clinical tools and workflows (prior telehealth experience helpful).
- Ability to commit to a minimum of 12 hours per week.
- Availability to cover at least one weekend shift per month.
- Eligibility to treat Medicare and Medicaid patients.
- A clean record of practice, with no sanctions, suspensions, or history of malpractice.
