Virtual Learning Instructional Assistant

About the Role

Appalachia Intermediate Unit 8 is seeking qualified candidates interested in serving as part-time instructional assistants to IU8’s World of Learning Institute.

Instructional assistants work collaboratively with the Virtual Learning Facilitator (VLF) to assist in providing feedback to learners regarding speaking, reading, and writing in the target language and to provide the VLF feedback on student progress.

Qualifications

• A Bachelor’s Degree and/or fluency in one or more world languages (read, write, and speak in the target language).
• Experience with supporting and assisting language learners is recommended.
• Must possess current, valid Act 34, Act 115, and Act 151 clearances as well as completed and acceptable Act 168 background checks.
• Experience in using technology to communicate and provide support to students learning a new language within a virtual setting.
• Able to work independently.
• Ability to follow through to completion of assigned tasks and prioritize and manage multiple tasks.
• Interpret, analyze, and problem-solve in all areas of assigned responsibilities.
• Able to converse and interact with individuals with diverse levels of education and abilities.
• Able to read and understand documents relating to federal, state, and local mandates as well as complex documents relating to education.

Working Conditions

Normal office, presentation room, and virtual environment. The position holder must be able to perform the essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation.
