About the role
The Quality Control Specialist is responsible for assuring that all Virtual Construction deliverables meet the scope of work for the project and have incorporated all company/project standards for constructability.
Responsibilities
- Develop Company Standard documents as requested by the Virtual Construction Manager and keeps and maintains those documents in a shareable site for distribution to all project teams/OU’s.
- Review and mark-up all department shop drawings to identify diversions in scope and constructability.
- Communicates all constructability and scope gap issues with the designers for corrections and approval.
- Verifies all QC Designer Checklists have been completed prior to releasing shop drawings “Issued for Review” revision to projects document sites.
- Assures all BIM models and local trade models meet the company standards for completion and quality per the Virtual Construction Process and Responsibility Matrix.
- Works in a collaborative manner with respective BIM Supervisor that all drawing deliverables meet quality standards without affecting completion schedule.
- Review models prior to BIM Sign Off to assure systems have been routed accurately and efficiently within the context of the contract documents and company standards for layout.
- Extract and QC all point layout files for all projects where Total Station layout will be performed and post the required files to the project site page per our standard.
- Works directly with the QA/QC Production Manager on Point Layout Scheduling to assure point files for layout are posted in a timely fashion.
- Contacts the Virtual Construction Manager as conflicts in direction or priority arise.
- Reviews and makes familiar all project documents and thoroughly understand scope of work.
- Provides accurate estimates for completion of assignments to the Virtual Construction Manager.
- Communicates with the respective Project Manager or Project Engineer as required to accomplish assigned tasks.
- Documents directives and notifies the Virtual Construction Manager of any changes effecting the completion of work.
- Provides and reviews daily/weekly progress reports—i.e., quantity of drawings models reviewed, and any reports pertaining to your discipline as required by the Virtual Construction Manager.
- Visits job sites as necessary to complete work assignments.
- Attends meetings— for new and existing projects—as requested by Virtual Construction Manager required by job.
- Other duties as assigned by Virtual Construction Manager.
Requirements & Qualifications
- High level understanding of his/her trade (mechanical pipe, plumbing or sheet metal) relative to commercial and industrial construction
- Field experience at a foreman’s level pertaining to his/her trade (mechanical pipe, plumbing or sheet metal)
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Able to read and understand contract drawings, specs, and submittals.
- Possess basic computer skills, (Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.)
- Proficiency in CAD based software platforms.
- Experience with AutoCad, Revit, and Navisworks
- Experience with 3D Design.
- Working knowledge of Fabrication Suite software preferred.
- Excellent attention to detail
- Ability to work with minimum supervision.
- Ability to deal diplomatically and effectively with customers
- Possess the ability to work on multiple projects and meet project deadlines
- Able to work from jobsite environment on occasion.
Pay & Benefits
- Salary: $83K - $95K (depending on experience)
